Tasting Notes:  Overwhelming, super ripe, almost jammy blackberry and blueberry with a dose of sun-baked earth and sweet oak. The flavors mimic the aromas exactly, with a huge, balanced mouthful of blueberry jam that carries into a long fruity finish tempered by blackberry bramble.
Winemaker's Notes:   Estate Syrah has such a distinct characteristic fruit and spice quality that I always forward to making the NSA version. The 2005 grapes were harvested the peak of maturity, and showed ripe, soft, intense fruit flavors with great balance. We fermented the whole lot in the rotary fermenter to control tannin structure, and used 796 yeast to emphasize fruit. The wine went into 2 to 4 year old French oak barrels for 5 months before bottling in March 2007. I love the soft, rich mouthfeel in this wine. 1000 cases made.
